Some cases can be mild, with just stomach pain and nausea. There are more severe cases like extended diarrhea that can lead to dehydration and require hospitalization.
Dysentery
This is a disease that causes severe diarrhea that may include bleeding.
Salmonellosis
Salmonella can cause Typhoid fever, gastroenteritis, and dysentery leading to severe diarrhea. Roaches are known to transmit this bacteria. Salmonella is a disease in humans with symptoms similar to food poisoning.
Polo
Cockroaches carry bacteria Poliomyelitis that lead to a serious disease called Polio.
Coli
A severe cause of food poisoning bacteria.
Enterococcus
Enterococcus causes urinary tract infection and meningitis in the body they enter through cockroach contaminated objects.
Parasitic worms
Parasitic worms like pin-worm, tapeworm, hookworm, and roundworm. These parasitic worms are very dangerous for a human body as they are quite tough to diagnose and treat.
Poliomyelitis
Poliomyelitis which causes Polio and has also been found in roaches.
Allergies and Asthma
A very serious health problem with cockroach infestations is their ability to cause allergic reactions and negatively impact asthma.
Cockroach excrement, skins, and saliva contain numerous allergens.
Symptoms of cockroach allergies are skin rashes, coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, sneezing, nasal congestion, and watery eyes.
Cockroaches can also worsen asthma causing difficulty breathing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath, especially in children.
Pathogens that can cause pneumonia and typhoid.
